10 Best Essential Oil Diffuser Blends

Company is Coming

2 drops Lime

2 drops Calming Blend

I have had a lot of success with this blend.  It’s the perfect mix of calming and energizing.  Great for creating an atmosphere that encourages conversation while at the same time keeping negativity at bay.

Use: When welcoming people into your home who are stressed, or who cause stress.

Those Darn Sniffles

2 drops (Immune) Protective Blend

2 drops Respiratory Blend

This is my favorite for when the kids are sick.  The Protective Blend helps the body fight the sickness, while at the same time purifying the air to help prevent the sickness from spreading to others.

Hospitals are learning about the benefits of essential oils, and it is becoming more common to see diffusers in use at hospitals and care facilities.  An interesting study was done by PubMed regarding “Protective Blend” and its germ fighting abilities. They discovered that the “influenza virus infectivity was suppressed by essential oil treatment.” [1]

The Respiratory Blend is also helpful when suffering from a cold because it encourages opening of the airways and easy breathing.

I like to add a drop or two of the Calming Blend when they’re getting ready for bed to make it easier for them to drift off to sleep.

Use: When battling a cold.

One of the best ways to use essential oils is with a diffuser.  This one is my favorite.  It has several different settings, lights that can be turned on or off while it’s running.  And the best thing about it, it holds enough water so that it can run all night.  No more getting up in the middle of the night to refill the diffuser.  I love it.

Pesky Teenage Hormones

2 drops Calming Blend

2 drops Grounding Blend

I like to use this when the kids are having a rough day. When our boy is angry and doesn’t know why, or when our daughter can’t stop crying from the emotional turmoil of the day.

What I like about this blend is it helps calm the emotions so we can get to the root of what’s upsetting them.

The teenage years are hard; I want our home to be a place where my children feel safe, loved and accepted.

Essential oils help create that environment they need and crave.  When we have brought calm to their emotions, we can then proceed to talk it out and give emotional support.

Use: When emotions are high.

Restful Sleep

2 drops Calming Blend

I put this in my diffuser every night, and have not had any difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep since I have added this to my routine.  I used to wake up several times during the night, now I sleep the whole night through.

Dreams seem to be a surprising bonus to this wonderful smelling oil.  So many have commented on how vivid and wonderful their dreams have become.   Those who were previously plagued by nightmares are now getting the rest they have been craving.

Use: At bedtime to encourage restful sleep.

Elusive Sleep

2 drops Calming Blend

2 drops Bergamot

When the Calming Blend is not enough, increase the potency by adding Bergamot.  Bergamot is rich in linalool and linalyl acetate, compounds that have well known relaxing properties.  And it has a wonderful citrus smell that nicely compliments the Calming Blend.

Use: When battling insomnia.

For the Snorer in Your Life

2 drops Calming Blend

2 drops Respiratory Blend

This blend combines the wonderful calming effects of the Calming Blend, with the airway opening effects of the Respiratory Blend.  It will help silence the snorer.

Use: When dealing with snoring.

Calm the Cravings

2 drops Grapefruit

1 drop Peppermint

2 drops Fennel

This is a wonderful blend for when you’re fighting a case of the munchies.  Each of these oils have been used to suppress the appetite.

Grapefruit essential oil can curb those cravings, and increase energy.  Peppermint has been shown to increase energy as well, with an added potential of elevating moods – which can be helpful for weight loss if you tend to eat more when you’re blue.

There was an interesting study done on rats using fennel oil.  During this 8 week study, the rats inhaled fennel oil twice a day for 10 minutes.  The results?  The rats consumed fewer calories and experienced a faster rate of food digestion. [2]

Use: When wanting to shed extra pounds.

Energizing

2 drops Wild Orange

1 drop Peppermint

1 drop Frankincense

The combination of these three essential oils is wonderful for a mid-day pick-me-up.  It creates a delightful aroma while promoting feelings of energy and enlivening the senses.

Use: When feeling run down, and in need of an energy boost.

Where’s My Brain

2 drops Rosemary

1 drop Peppermint

2 drop Wild Orange

I love this diffuser blend for when I’m studying.  Scientist are discovering the amazing benefits of Rosemary.  In 2012, a study was performed to see how Rosemary effects cognitive performance and mood.  “Twenty healthy volunteers performed serial subtraction and visual information processing tasks in a cubicle diffused with the aroma of rosemary.” The exciting results proved that Rosemary had an impact on cognitive performance in a positive manner.  [3]

Use: When having a difficult time focusing.

Time for Romance

1 drop Rose

2 drops Wild Orange

1 drop Clary Sage

This wonderful blend, combines three essential oils known for treating sexual difficulties.  They increase libido, while having an anti-anxiety property as well.

According to a study in 2015, Rose Essential Oil is effective in lessening anxiety, and stress and increasing libido. [4] It also reduces the severity of PMS.  Share this info. with your man.  Maybe it will cause him to see the value in bringing you roses ?

If you’re looking for a creative spark in the bedroom, clary sage can help.  It has been “known to boost creativity by supporting focus in the mind, putting things into perspective and creating inspirational thoughts.” [5]

Use: For setting a romantic mood.

Due to recent changes in the law, I am not able share my trusted brand of essential oils on my blog, but I can share them with you via email.

Make sure to read the usage method and precautions for each oil.  Use special caution when using on children, during pregnancy, or for those with health problems.
